Description: These artworks are part of a collection of four three-dimensional compositions of 15.7” (40 cm) x 15.7” (40 cm) x 7.8” (20 cm), made of 0.09” (2,5 mm) thick copper. They are based on big volume androgynous faces that demonstrate an academic return, to the investigation of real faces.

STUDY IV: Self-portrait. It was acquired by Ivonne Escobar, a distinguished Chilean alumni based in the USA.

The artist

“These pieces are created in the necessity to go back to an academic approach, that is to say, to study and technique. After the experiences and influences received in Europe, I felt that I should restart academic training, and as a result, I started to work on face analysis and volume. The pieces are born as the result of the observation and exercise of technique. I even make a self-portrait, looking at myself in the mirror (Study IV).
