Description: This artwork was made on a 0.31” (8 mm) thick piece of copper. Its dimensions are 78.7” (200 cm) x 39.8” (100 cm) x 11.8” (30 cm). A composition based on petroglyphs of warriors with their weapons, aquatic birds, and three faces: two feminine and one masculine.

The artist

“When I was making this piece, I filled it with tar to chisel on it and with the heat the metal gave in, it stretched past what was planned. It inflated in such a way because of the weight of the material that I had to decrease the volume, since the faces had deformed. Never before had a situation like this happened to me.

As a child, I played around a big stone that was to the side of my house in Huancarane. The carvings drawn on it stood out, but they were so normal to me that they were part of my everyday life. Years later, I understood their symbolic value.
